Birthday Cake BLISS - Boo & Hello Kitty

Hello There! We are back with a new customer testimonial from one of our very loyal customers! Two more birthday party cake favorites! Read below for our new cake stories of the month:

If you don't know who "Boo, the dog" is, you have been living under a rock! In case you do live under a rock, Boo is a famous dog due to Facebook and his cuteness, check out his page at:  http://www.facebook.com/Boo.

Anyway, as someone who works in social media, I see new pictures of Boo posted everyday on Facebook and when I see them, I save the cutest ones and send my Mom a text message pic to brighten up her day! It started up with just a few pictures... then my mom started texting me after a couple of days... "No more Boo pics?"  You see... my family is terribly allergic to dogs and cats.  We want a dog so bad, but it would cause to many issues with our allergies, even some of the hypo allergenic ones cause a rash when they lick my skin!  Boo is a Pomeranian with a funny haircut and my family has grown to LOVE him! He's our "Internet doggie," sad... but true.

So, my Mommy (in the picture above) had a big birthday in May and I wanted to make the cake extra special! I reached out to SugarFlake Bakery ( http://www.facebook.com/pages/SugarFlake-Bakery/141866492517546 ) and explained the type of cake I wanted, I needed to do a GREAT cake that didn't break the bank! The people at Sugarflake went out of their way to make an amazing cake!  My mom GASPED and then screamed OMG ITS BOOOOO! Hahaha (the exact reaction I wanted).  Thank you Sugarflake, for making my Mom's day even more special!

BOO!

Round 2: Hello Kitty!

So after having such a success with my BOO cake, I decided I was going to use Sugar Flake Bakery ( http://www.sugarflakebakeshop.com/ ) for all the important people in my life.  My close friend, Maria and I are die hard Hello Kitty fans.  For me, it started as a child, there was a Hello Kitty store right by my grandma's house and every time we passed it... I made my mom stop in there to get me a Hello Kitty Pen or eraser, anything HELLO KITTY! (what a brat!) :) lol.

When I met my friend Maria- 6 years ago, I found out she loved Hello Kitty too! This only made me love her more!  Last week was Maria's 27th birthday, one that SHE believed was not a special birthday.  I, on the other hand, beg to differ... I wanted it to be special! So I called up SugarFlake Bakery ( http://twitter.com/#!/sugarflakebake ) and told them what I was looking for.  Their printer broke that week and they were not able to do what I asked, instead they improvised and made a BIGGER cake with an even BETTER Hello Kitty face on it! (Thanks Sugarflake, for making my cake work even when trouble comes your way!)  This is a true example of a business you can trust with a special occasion!

Thanks again SugarFlake!
XOXO

Sugar Flake Bakery Review - Customer Testimonial

Hello baked-good lovers! I am so happy to be able to share a customer testimonial that brings warmth to my heart.  The whole reason we got into this business is to give our customer's THEIR vision... in the best way possible... Here is what Christie had to say about her fiance's 30th Birthday Party:

After ALL the stressing, planning, lying and of course... the money, I had the most successful surprise 30th Birthday Party I could ever imagine!  I planned it a location that helped me out financially and any other way possible... check out "The Oak Ale House" if you are in Bergen County, NJ.  After finally figuring out the location, budget and guest list... my next step was to figure out the LIE (plan) to get my fiance at the location.

After working with his family and friends, I figured out the perfect reason to get him to the Oak Ale House that night.  I bought some fabulous balloons, in colors of Navy Blue, White, Silver and Regular Blue.  Once I notice the STAR balloon holders, something sparked in my mind. I had a theme and I didn't even know it! My finance is a DIE HARD Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan (wow what a combo right? PS- Go Giants!) lol.

I realized I had found myself a theme to my little surprise party of 30 people. I thought... what can I do to make this party even more special than a regular 30th birthday party? Lets face it, most people realize that a surprise is coming, so why not plan a fall-back surprise? I decided to get my partner a surprise custom cake! I did my research and found a number of bakery locations in Bergen County.

My boss, at Anchor Dance Studio (in Oradell NJ- Check us out :) http://www.anchordancestudio.com/, Suggested I check out a Bakery in Westwood called SugarFlake Bakery.  I found them on facebook and looked through all the pictures with amazement! Could they really pull off my idea? They already had art beyond my idea, but could I afford it?  I contacted a woman at Sugarflake and asked her if I could send her a layout of exactly the type of cake I was looking for.

Not only did they make the cake I wanted, they added an artistic spark that I NEVER could have imagined... AND I could afford it! The day before the surprise party (mind you I was freaking out) the owner of SugarFlake reached out and asked if she could put the Yankees on the bottom and the Cowboys on the top? At that point I was so distracted I said "yes, I trust you completely."  She assured me that they had a great idea and it would work out.

Finally, the day of my fiance's surprise party had arrived and OF COURSE it had been snowing since 3:00am.  I woke up to the snow an PANICKED! NOOOO! No one is going to show up... how am I going to get the cake, pick up the decorations... decorate the location? AND most importantly... have time to do my hair straight!? (LOL- it's a girl thang) My world was falling apart.  I asked my mother... OH MY GOD, do you think they even got the cake done?

I called Sugarflake Bakery in a panic.  "Hi my name is Christie Johnson I have a Yankees..." I was quickly cut off by a perfect reply.  "Christie your cake is ready for pick up."  I took a deep breathe and got ready for my day of pre-party errands (IN THE SNOW storm) with a sense of RELIEF that my main gift was ready to go!  I followed my google map directions and found my way to Sugarflake Bakery in the heart of Westwood, NJ with no issue (Thank God).

I could not BELIEVE my eyes when they walked out with my cake.  They added an EXTRA layer, at NO charge in the shape of a Cowboys Helmet! It was my idea... but BETTER! I was literally blown away by their talent and the fact that they gave me my vision, but perfected it! I screeched with excitement and paid my bill as the women behind the counter created and PERFECT box to contain their masterpiece without ruining it in transit.  I thanked them kindly and was on my way!

All and all the party worked out amazing. The moment they took out the cake was the moment I will NEVER forget! My crazy Yankees/Cowboys fan's jaw dropped and he had NO WORDS (this does not happen EVER)... he didn't even want to EAT the cake! Ps- it TASTED delicious too! See below:

The love of my life was speechless for ONCE in his life! Thank you Sugarflake Bakery, for making my dream (BETTER) and... a reality. ;) I would recommend this place to anyone! For more details, email me at: ChristieJ37@gmail.com.

Thank you Sugar Flake  ;) Xo CJ
